The new global headquarters of the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) is a game between implicit and explicit analogies, between visual identity and heritage of the site. The office building and its architectural concept both express a landscape of a wood area stretched between the Jura mountains and the Geneva Lake and remind of the shape and design of the famous hoop of basketball courts.
In order to free the ground floor from vertical structural elements a composite steel-concrete vertical truss system is located on the first floor. Such system supports the slab over 30 metres and forms a double cantilever over the main entrance.
