The Flâneur d'Or, awarded by Pedestrian Mobility Switzerland with the support of the Federal Roads Office, recognizes exemplary pedestrian projects in Switzerland.
The Origami crèche, located between two imposing buildings, was designed to be an “inhabited landscape”. The building consists of a sequence of alternating arcs and staggered bands regularly deployed over the entire parcel.
The roof structure, which covers the whole surface of the project, constitutes the lateral bracing of the building thus ensuring its seismic stability. The roof slab is composed of OSB panels spanning up to 7m and supporting an extensive vegetation. The ventilated caissons include both insulation and waterproof layers within a total thickness of 50 cm.
